University of Leeds

Founded in 1904, the University of Leeds is one of the UK’s largest and most respected institutions, known globally for academic excellence and research. A member of the Russell Group, it hosts over 38,000 students from more than 140 countries on a 98-acre campus just a mile from Leeds city centre.

Leeds offers one of the broadest course selections in the UK—from English Language and Foundation Years to a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes. Its degrees are globally recognised, and alumni can be found in influential roles around the world. Notably, Leeds also boasts a strong focus on employability, offering a wide array of internships and placement opportunities.

Campus facilities include modern teaching spaces, four libraries, a state-of-the-art fitness complex (‘The Edge’), a swimming pool, and a contemporary theatre venue, ‘stage@leeds’. The university’s social scene is equally vibrant, with over 300 clubs and societies and a Student Union that’s the only one in the UK to earn two gold awards from the Student Union Evaluation Initiative.

Transport links are excellent, with nearby airports in Manchester and Leeds Bradford, and direct trains to London in just over two hours. Leeds holds a 64% acceptance rate and ranks 82nd in the QS World University Rankings 2025. It has also received the prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize three times—in 2009, 2011, and 2021.
