University of Nottingham – Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship

The Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship is the University of Nottingham’s flagship award for students from South Asian and selected Commonwealth countries, including India and Pakistan. Established in 2001, it supports your ambitions to study a one-year Master’s (or MRes) in the UK and help drive positive development back home.

You may receive a tuition reduction of either 50 % or 100 %, based on your scholarship application and development proposal, with the deadline typically in April for courses starting September.

Key Benefits

  • Scholarship Value: Covers 50 % or 100 % of full-time Master’s tuition fees (standard one-year PGT or MRes)
  • Eligible Degrees: Full-time Master’s or MRes programmes—primarily in Engineering, Medicine & Health Sciences, Science, or Social Sciences
  • Award Duration: Applicable only for the first year of tuition; multi-year courses require separate funding for subsequent years

Eligibility

To be considered, you must:

  • Be domiciled in India or Pakistan, or another eligible Commonwealth country (South Asia, Africa, etc.)
  • Hold overseas/international fee status at Nottingham
  • Have received an offer to a qualifying Master’s programme (PGT or MRes) at Nottingham for 2025/26 intake
  • Be neither a current student nor graduate of Nottingham, nor studying in the UK currently
  • Not have earned a degree outside your home country (exceptions reviewed case-by-case)

Selection Criteria

Award decisions focus on your:

  • Vision and development plan: Clear, actionable proposals linked to your academic goals—how your chosen Master’s will enable a solution to a real challenge in your home country
  • Alignment with course outcomes: Strong fit between the scholarship ethos and the academic discipline
  • Academic merit & achievements: Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate studies, extracurricular or professional impact
