IELTS Preparation for Study Abroad
The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is the most widely accepted English proficiency test for international students. Almost all universities in the UK, US, Canada, and Australia require IELTS as part of the admissions process.
At Rise Education Group, we help students prepare for IELTS so they can achieve the scores needed for admission to top universities.
What is IELTS?
IELTS measures your ability to communicate in English across four skills:
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking
Most international students take IELTS Academic, which is required for university study.
Minimum IELTS Score Requirements
While requirements vary by country, university, and course, here are the general benchmarks:
- UK Universities: Overall 6.0–6.5, with no band below 5.5 or 6.0.
- US Universities: Typically 6.0–6.5 for undergraduate, 6.5–7.0 for postgraduate programs.
- Canada Universities: Minimum 6.0 overall, with some requiring 6.5–7.0.
- Australia Universities: Minimum 6.0 overall, with at least 5.5–6.0 in each band.
Top-ranked universities and professional programs (Medicine, Law, Education, etc.) often require 7.0+ overall with no band lower than 6.5.
